Tue, 28 May 2013

The MHA held its annual awards and gala dinner on Saturday 25th May with several honours going to Valkyrs members.

Current Men's Island Captain, Greg Miller, took the Men's Player of the Year award for the second year running after another excellent season.  As Island Captain, he takes his squad to the Men's County Championship Finals this weekend to Wakefield where they will play Gloucestershire in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Jonah Hull claimed the Umpire of the Year award for the third time after another successful season of fulfilling appointments for both the IOMHUA and North HUA.  As well as umpiring in the men's North Premier Division, he was also selected to umpire at the A Division at the Men's County Championships.

Jonah was also awarded the Major Crellin Award for Outstanding Contribution to Manx Hockey.  This is in recognition of over 10 years of service to Valkyrs and the IOMHUA in various roles including:

- Valkyrs Secretary (2005-10), team captain over 7 seasons, committee member, webmaster & fundraising through the 100 Club.

- IOMHUA Treasurer (2010+) & umpire coaching coordinator.
