County Championships

Several Valkyrs players were involved in the County Championships held over the weekend. 

The IOM Men's squad was in Essex competing in the C division and after two days of matches, they ended up second in their group.  This qualifies them for a finals weekend in Sheffield on 4th June.  Well done to Will Margot, Greg Miller, Steven Lowe and Gareth Morris for their selection and especially to Greg & Gareth who scored a couple of goals each. 

Meanwhile, the IOM Ladies squad was in Liverpool competing in the "Cock of the North" tournament.  England Hockey have discountinued the traditional County Championships for Ladies hockey so this event is run for any counties still wishing to play in an unoffical tournament.  Our sole representative from Valkyrs was Andrea Kneen who had a very good time by all accounts!

The final club member participating in B division tournament in Carlisle was Jonah Hull who was selected to umpire with other Level 2 & 3 umpires from the North Hockey Umpires Association.  The wind & rain was relentless but he got appointed to four matches (including the top of the table clash between Durham & Northumberland) and unleashed many yellow cards.
